"Mr. Jackson's lifelong commitment to service—first in the U.S. Army and now in the classroom—is truly commendable," remarked State Treasurer Curtis Loftis. "His extensive background in finance and personnel brings invaluable real-world experience to his students, and I am grateful for his dedication to equipping South Carolina's youth with essential money management skills."

A native of Sumter, SC, and a 1983 graduate of Sumter High School, Mr. Jackson proudly served in the U.S. Army before retiring in 2007, holding numerous leadership roles including Senior Human Resources Supervisor and Operations Sergeant during deployments to Iraq and Operation Desert Storm. Transitioning to education, he teaches business and financial literacy at Fairfield Central High School, holds multiple degrees including three Master's from Webster University, and shares his expertise during the summers as a consultant for the Knowledge for College Program.

“Teaching financial literacy has always been a primary passion of mine,” Jackson said. “Having a background in finance and human resources from my military career, I want to ensure students understand the fundamental money management skills required to navigate life and build strong, self-sufficient communities.”

The South Carolina Financial Literacy Master Teacher Program provides incentives to K-12 teachers who are experts in financial literacy and have a desire to teach professional development
workshops to other educators in their schools and districts. Through the program, participating teachers have access to specialized training and financial literacy curriculum resources that better enable them to promote financial literacy education in K-12 schools.

Sponsored by Future Scholar, South Carolina’s 529 College Savings Plan, and in partnership with SC Economics, this statewide initiative provides incentives, specialized training, and curriculum resources to help K-12 teachers promote financial literacy in their schools and districts.
