Lucky Ducky and the Smart Plan

Instilling Strong Financial Habits

It’s never too early to learn about the importance of saving money and making smart financial choices. South Carolina State Treasurer Curtis Loftis is proud to announce a new personal finance lesson plan designed to engage kindergarten through second grade students across the Palmetto State.

Based on the popular coloring book - Lucky Ducky and the Smart Plan, the Lucky Ducky Lesson Plan, encourages students to explore the importance of investing in their own knowledge, skills, and abilities to shape a successful future.

Developed in partnership with SC Economics, teachers can use engaging discussions and creative activities to help students learn how education, continuous skill development, and goal setting play a crucial role in personal growth and achievement. The lesson plan highlights different ways for students to invest in themselves while developing a deeper understanding of how to nurture their potential and build a foundation for lifelong success.

Lucky Ducky and the Smart Plan Coloring Book

We encourage teachers and parents to download the Lucky Ducky Lesson Plan and the Lucky Ducky and the Smart Plan coloring book materials to share with their students. While this lesson plan was written to comply with SC State Standards for grades K-2, it could also be applicable to older students, as they consider ways to invest in themselves and plan for their future.  We hope that you and your students enjoy the Lucky Ducky activity!
