Future Scholar "Making Bank" Contest

Making financial education fun with "Making Bank"

It’s never too early to learn about the importance of saving and smart money choices. That’s why we invited South Carolina K-2 teachers to register their classes to participate in the Future Scholar "Making Bank" Contest.

Using a provided template, students were tasked with using their creativity to design a piggy bank that illustrated things they’d like to save for, highlighting and demonstrating an understanding of both their needs and wants.

Approximately 2,100 students from 45 schools across the state registered to participate in local "Making Bank" contests, with each school naming first, second and third place student winners, who received Future Scholar prize packs. Teachers of the school winners also received Amazon gift cards.

First place school winners were then entered into a statewide competition, where 21 students were each awarded a privately-funded $529 Future Scholar grant.

Congratulations to our grant recipients on their winning drawings!
